OMUAFC First Kicks Program

Players Born Between January 2012 and May 2014

OMUAFC will continue to run the First Kicks program for 4,5 and 6 year olds (as part of the NZ Football – Whole of Football Plan). We are confident that all players involved in the program will enjoy fun activities, receive a great experience and get a taste of the future of football.

All players are required to purchase their own size 3 football (available at most sports retail shops).
As part of your registration cost we will supply a ball carry bag and we hope this will encourage kids to be responsible for their ball and have access to a ball at home.
Your end of season team photo is also included in the cost.

What’s happening?

Early engagement as early as 4 years into the game should be encouraged as it is necessary to reach excellence.

This initiation phase is to allow the children to discover the game, provide for learning basic fundamental movement skills and create positive football experiences.

Guidelines

  • No competitive game
  • Adults and children play together informally to meet the personal/emotional needs of the youngsters
  • Encourage participation in a variety of additional activities to develop physical literacy (e.g. running, jumping, throwing, etc)
  • Lots of chances to score goals and enjoy mini challenges
  • Parents and game leaders bring out the fun of football through guiding and supporting their children to understand the basic rules of first kicks football
